With one win, one defeat and one no-result from their opening three matches, Warriors are in third place in the table with six points. There was no-result against Knights before Warriors beat the 2021 winners Rocks. However, Lions then beat Warriors by seven wickets in Match 10.
Young left-handed middle order batter Jordan Hermann is the leading run scorer in the tournament so far with over 100 runs to his name. He began this campaign with successive half-centuries before finishing unbeaten with 16 runs from 14 balls against Lions.
Glenton Stuurman is the only Warriors bowler to have taken three wickets in the competition but returned disappointing figures of 0-24 from two overs against Lions. Wihan Lubbe and Beyers Swanepoel both took one wicket each in the last match.
Warriors have won only one of their last four matches in the CSA T20 Challenge.
There are no teams beneath Western Province in the table who have taken zero points from their opening three games. They were beaten by Rocks in Match 4, Knights in Match 7 before losing by 16 runs (DLS) against Titans on Friday.
Two of the top eight run scorers in the tournament are in the Western Province team – Daniel Smith (77) and George Linde (80). In the defeat against Titans, Linde top scored for Western Province with four fours in his 29 balls innings from number six.
Western Province have taken 13 wickets across their three matches so far with Tshepo Moreki leading the attack with five dismissals. The pace bowler has returned figures of 2-24, 1-16 and 2-24. Mihlali Mpongwana produced brilliant figures of 3-14 against Titans.
Western Province have been well beaten in all three matches this year and are still looking for their first win.
